Elly Suh

Elly Suh, Korean-American violinist, has distinguished herself internationally as a performer and winner of numerous renowned competitions. She was the winner of the 2016 Oleh Krysa International Violin Competition in Ukraine and the 2017 Concours International de Musique du Maroc, as well as a top prizewinner in the Leipzig International Bach Competition, Paganini International Violin Competition, Michael Hill International Violin Competition, Moscow International David Oistrakh Violin Competition, Naumburg International Violin Competition, International Violin Competition of Indianapolis (Best Paganini Caprices and Best Encore) and Singapore International Violin Competition (Bach prize). Praised as “a sensitive and absorbing interpreter” (Musical America), Elly has performed with the Orchestre Royal de Wallonie, Leipzig Barockensemble, L’Orchestra della Teatro Carlo Felice, L’Orchestre philharmonique du Maroc, Lviv Virtuosos Chamber Orchestra, Lviv Philharmonic, ZielonaGóra Philharmonic, Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Conservatory, among others. She has performed at the Salzburg Festival, New York's Carnegie Hall, and has appeared as guest concertmaster with the American Ballet Theatre Orchestra in New York City. Born in Seoul, Elly began violin lessons at age five and entered the Juilliard Pre-College Division at the age of ten. She completed her Bachelor and Master of Music studies at The Juilliard School and Postgraduate studies at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg and Manhattan School of Music, where her teachers were Pierre Amoyal, Robert Mann, Joel Smirnoff, and Sally Thomas.
